Forbes has published a list of the world's fattest countries here:
http://www.forbes.com/forbeslife/2007/02/07/worlds-fattest-countries-forbeslife-cx_ls_0208worldfat_2.html
Here's some hilights:
1. Nauru 94.5
.....
8. Kuwait 74.2
9. United States 74.1
.....
18. United Arab Emirates 68.3
19. Mexico 68.1
.....
28. United Kingdom 63.8
29. Saudi Arabia 63.5
......
35. Canada 61.1
......
42. Cuba 60.1
43. Germany 60.1
And so on. If you're wondering what/where "Nauru" is ... so did I. Here's the CIA Factbook page on Nauru. On a different note, I'm glad that Canada is ... well, less fat ... than the USA. ;)
BTW, I don't really update my emmzee.com blog anymore. Check out whyfaith.com for a blog that I update fairly often. :)

FireFox 2.0 and IE 7: Oh goody.
Am I the only one who doesn't want a bunch of new features crammed into their web browser? Please, just make it fast and not have a bunch of memory leaks, thanks. (Why is FireFox currently taking up 80megs of memory?)
Sorry, but I really don't CARE about RSS. There's a few news sites that I visit daily. I'm sure they have RSS feeds. But I don't care; I like visiting the sites. Podcasting? Don't care about that either.
When I read about all the new features they're cramming into both FireFox and IE, I can't help but think "bloatware" and cringe. I currently use FireFox but may have to go back to K-Meleon if FireFox keeps adding new "features" that I don't need or want. FireFox has a great Extension system. So why not release official extensions to provide new functionality and keep the basic FireFox browser small, fast and efficient?
Well?!

The Once-in-awhile Update!
Hmmm not much goin on lately. My trip to BC at the end of the month is confirmed, should be fun. I'm glad Why Faith is still chugging along, not many visitors yet, but hopefully that'll gradually increase. I'm still hoping to eventually turn that site into a "free ebook" type of site. I've realized the articles/posts that I'm writing for the blog will help me write that book, so the blog is useful just from that perspective.
Yesterday I hooked up the N64 and was playing Mario Tennis ... never played it before, even way back in the day when we got it. (Though I suspect my brother probably got it later, after the N64 days were over.) It's pretty fun, along the same lines as Super Strikers (which is also a great game). I'm excited about the stupidly-named Nintendo Wii. Not sure if I'll buy one right when it comes out, but interested to see it, anyways.
Been listening to a lot of Belle & Sebastian lately. OH DEAR I've gone all hippy-like! Yea, I dunno. I enjoy the acoustic guitar pop/punk stuff. Or whatever genre B&S is supposed to be.
Today's quote:
"It's too bad that stupidity isn't painful"
- Anton Szandor LaVey
... "except for those exposed to your stupidity", I'd add.

...
well here I am
I don't know how to say this
the only thing I know is awkward silence
your eyelids close when you're around me to shut me out
so I'll go walking in the streets until my heels bleed
and I'll sing out my song in case the birds wish to sing along
and I'll dig a tunnel to the center of the universe.
I'll make my way across the frozen sea, beyond the blank horizon
where I can forget "you and me" and get a decent night's sleep
well here I am
I don't know how to say this
the only thing I know is awkward silence. ~ Saves the Day, Freakish

Another lazy dog-danglin afternoon
I just noticed that I've added a total of 24 books to my Amazon Wishlist in the last two months. That's waaaay too many. Note though that I use the Wishlist as more of a "this book looks interesting maybe I'll read it sometime" kinda list, instead of just listing things I really want.
On an unrelated note, I came across this today ... for those of you who finished Super Mario Bros 3 on the NES (that should be ALL of you, of course) you'll probably remember this scene from the end sequence ... whoever thought of this gets a big thumbs up from me:

Hahahaha. I remember that when I first saw it I had a brief eye-buldging "WTF?!?!" moment as the text slowly typed into the box on the TV screen. :) According to this, the joke wasn't in the Japanese version, and was added for the American translation. Classic!
